36. The Call of Matthew After the healing of the paralytic, Jesus went to the seaside to walk along the shore. The crowds followed him and he taught them as he walked along the sea. Jesus passed a man named Matthew, son of Alphaeus. Matthew was a tax collector and was sitting at his place of business. Jesus said to him: Matthew immediately left all his business, stood up, and followed Jesus.
