Faith, and Service

Jesus said to his disciples:

Temptations to sin are sure to come, but woe to him through whom they come!

It would be better if a great weight was tied around his neck, and then be thrown into the sea, rather than be the one who causes one of these little ones to stumble.

Be careful yourselves. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, then forgive him. If he sins against you seven times and comes to you for forgiveness, you shall forgive him.

And the apostles said to Jesus:

Increase our faith.

And Jesus said:

if you had faith as a grain of mustard seed, you might say to this sycamore tree:

Lift yourself up from your roots and plant yourself in the sea, and it would obey you.

Which one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping your sheep, when he comes in from the field will invite him to sit down and eat?

Isn’t it more likely that you will tell him to prepare your meal and serve you until your have finished eating, and then after that he can have his meal?

Do you thank the servant because he does the things that you command him to do?

In the same way after you have done all that is commanded, don’t think you deserve a reward. All you have done is your duty.
